I’m a garden designer currently based in South London but working across the country, I graduated from the prestigious London College of Garden Design with a distinction. Although I’ve always a had a lifelong interest in horticulture and design, I bring to bear the skills from my previous career as a sound designer and editor, working at the top end of film & television.
Drawing on a wide range of influences from art and culture as much as from the natural world, I aim to design emotive and timeless spaces with a real sense of place.
An understanding of form and texture, with an appropriate palette of materials and plants, allows each garden to respond to the client’s needs and to the individual characteristics of the site. I believe a garden does not exist in isolation, so ensuring the design settles within its surroundings is important if the space is to fit harmoniously within the wider landscape.
As well as bringing joy and beauty, gardens connect us to the natural world. I follow a philosophy of sustainability which means I aim to increase biodiversity with my planting and use local materials as much as possible. Using a knowledge of ecology and plant communities in the wild, I aim to create planting combinations that sit comfortably together and subconsciously feel right and natural. I believe that through gardens we can help to address some of the larger environmental issues facing the world.
I’m comfortable designing gardens at any scale and am used to delivering creative and detailed work to the highest standards.
